Artist Anna FC Smith created this Obby Oss after a residency with Doc, travelling to folk events with him and exploring his archive. The oss represents Doc and his archive as a living active tradition in its own right. The horse’s head is his watchful camera, the skirt records the many customs he documented with the first year he recorded them and the rider mask is a portrait Doc himself in the style of his beloved Padstow Mayday Oss’.
